Thursday, June 23, 2016/Categories: Department of Environmental Quality/Tags:

Helena – The Montana Department of Environmental Quality is accepting public comments on a request by Lawrence Voise for the partial release of bonds being held for a rock quarry. The quarry is located approximately 17 miles southwest of Ryegate in Golden Valley County.

DEQ currently holds cash bonds totaling $18,664.56. Voise is requesting a bond release of $5,329 for grading, soiling, and vegetation of areas completed at the quarry.

DEQ inspected the site on April 27, 2016, and believes the reclamation was performed satisfactorily. The department is proposing to release the requested amount and retain the remainder to ensure the establishment of vegetation and weed control at the site.

Interested persons can comment and/or request a hearing on the proposed bond release. Requests must be submitted by July 18, 2016.

Comments on the proposed bond release or requests for additional information should be sent to: Herb Rolfes, MT DEQ Hard Rock Mining Bureau, PO Box 200901, Helena, MT 59620-0901, or by calling Herb Rolfes at (406) 444-3841. Comments may also be submitted by email to: hrolfes@mt.gov
