After 23 legislators objected to 16 administrative rules proposed by the commissioner of political practices, the State Administration and Veterans’ Affairs Interim Committee was required by law to conduct a poll of the full Legislature. Presiding officer Sen. Dee Brown (R-Hungry Horse) and Vice Presiding Officer Rep. Bryce Bennett (D-Missoula) certified the poll’s results on Dec. 23.  The total votes by members of each house are provided in the accompanying table.

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee of the Legislature will meet the big and small business of air ambulance services on the second day of its Dec. 1-2 meeting at the Capitol in Helena. The first day, which starts at 10 a.m. in Room 102, will include a look at Montana State Fund’s finances, licensing boards, the Department of Livestock, and the Division of Banking and Financial Institutions.

The State Administration and Veterans' Affairs Interim Committee will be conducting a telephone conference call meeting at 3 p.m. on Nov. 24 in Room 102 of the Capitol. The meeting is for the sole purpose of making administrative decisions concerning how the committee will conduct a poll of all members of the Legislature about rules being adopted by the Commissioner of Political Practices. No other matters are scheduled for discussion or action.

The Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee will meet Nov. 30 - Dec. 2 in Room 317 of the Capitol building in Helena. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. on Nov. 30 and at 8 a.m. on the subsequent days. Activities over the three days will include updates on a variety of the committee's studies.

The State Administration and Veterans' Affairs Interim Committee has received 23 letters from members of the legislature objecting to 16 proposed new and revised campaign finance rules. By law, this requires the committee to conduct a poll of the legislature about legislative intent when it passed campaign finance law revisions during the 2015 session.

The Children, Families, Health, and Human Services Interim Committee will travel to Billings this month to hear ideas for its study of children's mental health outcomes. The committee also will take an in-depth look at Alzheimer's disease at its Nov. 19-20 meeting, which will be held at Montana State University Billings.
