The Environmental Quality Council meets Sept. 27-28 in room 172 of the Capitol. The bipartisan council is scrutinizing the parks division of the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP).

The Law and Justice Interim Committee meets again on September 21 in Helena. The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. in room 102 of the state Capitol.

The Montana Legislative Services Division announced this week that the 2017 Montana Legislative Review and the 2017 History and Final Status are available in hard copy and online.

The Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee meets next on September 13 and 14 in Room 172 of the Capitol building beginning at 2 pm on September 13 and at 8 am on September 14.

The State-Tribal Relations Committee travels to Lame Deer, Crow Agency, and Billings in September. As the Legislature's liaison with tribes, the committee is scheduled to meet with the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council on the morning of Monday, September 18, in Lame Deer. The committee has invited the Crow Tribal Council to meet that afternoon in Crow Agency.

The voting machines that help disabled electors mark their ballots and the optical scan systems that tabulate election results are aging. What systems should be purchased to replace these aging machines and how to pay for them is a priority concern of county election administrators. The legislature's State Administration and Veterans' Affairs Interim Committee will begin tackling this issue at a meeting in Helena on September 14.

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee (EAIC) will hear updates from three state agencies at its Sept. 14, 2017, meeting. Budget concerns and agency prospects will be the main themes as the eight-member EAIC hears from the Department of Livestock, the Department of Labor and Industry, and the State Auditor’s Office. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in Room 152 of the State Capitol in Helena.

The Children, Families, Health, and Human Services Interim Committee will cover topics ranging from prescription drug costs to services for developmentally disabled adults to Medicaid funding and Medicaid provider rate cuts when it meets on Sept. 11.
