Governor Bullock Submits Comments To Bureau Of Land Management On Proposed Sage Grouse Management Plans

Governor Steve Bullock today released the comments he submitted to Jamie Connell, the Montana state director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), on the five proposed resource management plans that cover BLM lands in Montana as they pertain to sage grouse conservation efforts.  In the letter, Bullock made it clear that he is disappointed the BLM has thus far proposed to enact stricter measures in Montana than those already approved in Wyoming, which has a plan very similar to Montana’s.

Governor Bullock Urges Montana’s Federal Delegation to Support the Swift Reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund

Governor Steve Bullock today released a letter to Congressman Ryan Zinke, Senator Jon Tester, and Senator Steve Daines urging them to support the reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) which is set to expire in September of this year. The LWCF uses royalties from the depletion of offshore oil and gas to create and protect natural areas and water resources across the nation. Bullock encouraged Montana’s federal delegation to join the large bipartisan support behind S. 338 which would permanently reauthorize the LWCF.

Montana’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in June at 3.9 percent.  Employment levels in Montana continued to rise over the month, but the unemployment rate held steady due to growth in the labor force.
