Montana Department of Revenue Director Mike Kadas has announced his retirement from the department. His last day as the department’s 17th director will be May 11.

The Montana Department of Revenue is following the lead of the federal IRS and extending the deadline for taxpayers to file their state individual income tax returns and make payments. The deadline is tonight at midnight.

The Montana Department of Revenue reminds taxpayers that individual income tax returns are due April 17 at midnight. With two weeks until the filing deadline, the department has processed about 310,000 returns and issued about 241,000 refunds totaling about $110.3 million. The average refund amount is $460.
