The Water Policy Interim Committee will focus on Gallatin Valley water issues at its meeting next month. The committee meets at Bozeman City Hall beginning at 9 a.m. May 2 and 3.
The eight-member, bipartisan committee will travel to three sites near the Four Corners area. The sites include the infiltration gallery of the Four Corners Water and Sewer District, the domestic water and irrigation systems for the Middle Creek Parklands subdivision, and water delivery on a portion of the Farmers Canal irrigation system.
The committee will also hear from various interests regarding the Gallatin Valley water, including water supply options, the future of the Bozeman-located Water Court, and vegetative management in the Bozeman watershed. The committee will also hear research from Montana State University assistant professor Ellen Lauchnor, regarding the presence of chemicals from industrial and household products and their effects on wastewater treatment processes.
Field trips are limited to committee members and confirmed guests, as space is limited. Guests must be confirmed by April 27 by contacting committee staff.
