Public Water Supply Violation Resolved

Friday, July 1, 2016/Categories: Department of Environmental Quality/Tags:

Helena --- The Montana Department of Environmental Quality announced today that Smith Bro’s, LLC has entered into an agreement to resolve violations of public water supply laws at the Arrow Creek Trailer Court in Worden, Montana.

According to DEQ Enforcement Specialist Nathaniel Saladin, Smith Bro’s failed to sample for lead, copper, and disinfection byproducts. Smith Bros also exceeded the maximum contaminant level (MCL) for total nitrate during the Third Quarter 2015 monitoring period.

To resolve these violations, DEQ and Smith Bro’s entered into an Administrative Order on Consent under which the company agreed to pay a $517 penalty and to keep the drinking water system in compliance with the total nitrate MCL.
