THOMAS FRANCIS MEAGHER STORY IN FOLKLORE AND MUSIC AT MHS

Thomas Francis Meagher the historical musical is coming to the Montana Historical Society Thursday (April  7) at 6:30 p.m.

Historical reenactor and musician Neal  Lewing will present his one-man performance of “Meagher of the Sword.”

It is the story of the man whose statue dominates the lawn of the Montana State Capitol. His adventurist life spanned two cultures and four continents from Irish rebel to escaped convict to U.S. Civil War general to acting Montana Territorial governor.

Meagher’s disappearance and presumed death on the Missouri River waterfront of Fort Benton in 1867 remains one of Montana’s most famous unsolved mysteries.

Lewing will present the larger-than-life story of Meagher through folklore, music and Meagher’s own words. The program is free and open to the public.
