MHS SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR CAPITOL GALLERY OF OUTSTANDING MONTANANS
Montana’s State Capitol is a monument for all who have called this special place home.
Since 1981 niches in the west wing of the Capitol have honored those who have made especially significant contributions through their life’s work.
The Montana Historical Society is seeking nominations for the next 10 inductees into the Gallery of Outstanding Montanans, and it is your chance to play a role in the history of what is known as The People’s House.
Nominees must have been born, raised or lived a significant period of time in Montana, and living persons are not eligible for nomination. You can review a list of past honorees by going to http://mhs.mt.gov/education/OutstandingMontanans. Nominations must be submitted by Oct. 3.
Nominees can come from any field of endeavor including science, medicine, business, the arts , education, economics, community builders, Native American leadership, and the legal profession.
Nominations must include the name of the nominee, birth and death dates, Montana association, field of endeavor, specific contributions and achievements, any supporting documentation and additional information, name and contact for person making nomination, and date of nomination.
MHS Curator of History Maggie Ordon and coordinator of the program said she hopes for nominations from all across Montana that show the broad diversity of those who have helped build the state. “The Gallery of Montanans is a great way to bring attention to all those who have contributed to Montana in many ways,” she said.
