TOP 10 BOOKS AND RESEARCH WISDOM AT MHS FREE SECOND SATURDAY
The Montana Historical Society staff will help you pick out a great new book and learn how to improve your history research techniques during its free “Second Saturday” event.
If you are looking for a good read on Montana history, MHS Museum Store Manager Rod Coslet has marked the top ten bestselling books for 2016 for you to pick from. MHS has the largest collection of books on Montana and the West anywhere, and the people who buy them at the store know which are the best reads for those who love Montana history and heritage.
The Research Center staff will present “Digging Deeper: Exploring Historical Resources” at 1:30 p.m. that will offer advice and tips on the limitations of online research and tricks used by professional researchers.
They also will discuss how to best use the Research Center’s resources with hands-on experience using maps, newspapers, photos and letters and archives. The program is designed for both elementary level as well as experiences researchers.
Admission is free to Montana’s Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. sponsored by the Helena Community Credit Union. You can sign up for door prizes all day long and check out the new “Hooked: Fishing in Montana” exhibit.
Free admission is also offered at the Original Governor’s Mansion from noon to 3 p.m.
