Helena historian Patty Dean will present a free public program at the Montana Historical
Society Thursday (Feb. 11) at 6d:30 p.m. based on her research for her new monograph on Helena’s famed Montana Club.

“Cass Gilbert in Big Sky Country: His Designs for the Montana Club” will trace the way that the famed St. Paul and New York Architect drew on the design of gentlemen’s clubs ranging from London’s St. James Square to Butte.

She also will talk about the history of the original members of the club that was hailed as “the most sumptuous Building ever erected in Montana. The original Montana Club designed by Cass was built in 1893 and burned down in a fire in 1903.

It is based on her new book that was published for the club’s 130th anniversary.
