DEQ, Jerry Hollis, Jr., Agree to Resolve Underground Storage Tank and Permitting Act Violation

Tuesday, June 16, 2015/Categories: Department of Environmental Quality/Tags:

Helena -- The Montana Department of Environmental Quality announced that Jerry Hollis, Jr., has agreed to resolve a violation of the Montana Underground Storage Tank Installer and Inspector Licensing and Permitting Act that occurred at the FedEx Ground underground storage tank facility in Billings.

Hollis failed to comply with the construction permit requirements, terms, and conditions. Specifically, Hollis failed to ensure the automatic tank gauge would de-energize the system on any indication of any tank and/or piping sensor alarms or line failure.  Shasta Steinweden of DEQ’s Enforcement Division explained that compliance with DEQ construction permits help to ensure that underground storage tank facilities are properly installed to reduce the risk of releasing regulated substances into the environment.

Hollis has agreed to pay a $240 penalty for the violation.
