Helena – The Montana Department of Environmental Quality is accepting public comments on an application by Schellinger Construction Company to operate a gravel mine at the Gliko site in Cascade County about 5 miles south of Belt.
The proposed mine includes a total of 27.1 permitted acres with 8.2 acres used for the actual mine. Gravel from the proposed mine will be used for short term road or construction permits.
The department will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 to starting at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Belt Public School at 1 Church Street in Belt.
The meeting will begin with an introduction and question and answer session. The public comment session is expected to begin around 8:00 p.m. but it may begin earlier to maximize the opportunity for citizens to provide comments. The meeting will end when attendees have finished providing comments, or at 9:00 p.m., whichever comes first.
