HELENA – The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has completed a five-year comprehensive review of the bond held for Barretts Minerals Inc. and is proposing an increase for the Treasure Mine. The talc mine is about 15 miles northeast of Dillon in Madison County, Mont.
Due to increased costs of equipment and labor DEQ has determined that an increase in the bond is necessary to cover the costs of reclamation.
The current bond amount is $4,673,816. DEQ proposes to increase the bond by $686,398 to $5,360,214.
A copy of the bond calculations that form the basis for the proposed bond determination can be obtained by contacting the Department of Environmental Quality, Hard Rock Mining Bureau, P. O. Box 200901, 1520 E. Sixth Ave., Helena, MT 59620-0901, or by calling Herb Rolfes at 406-444-3841 or email at email@example.com.
