The Commission on Sentencing will meet September 2 at 9 a.m. in Room 137 of the State Capitol in Helena. A tentative agenda and other meeting materials are now available at the commission's website, www.leg.mt.gov/cos.
At this organizational meeting, the commissioners will elect officers, discuss and revise a work plan, and begin work on study tasks outlined in Senate Bill 224. The commissioners will also listen to presentations on Montana's current sentencing and criminal justice laws, justice reinvestment technical assistance that will be provided to the commission by the Council on State Governments Justice Center, and previous data research performed for the Department of Corrections.
The public will have two opportunities at the meeting to provide comments to the commissioners about the commission's work.
