Helena – The Montana Department of Environmental Quality is accepting comments on an application from ES Stone and Structure, Inc. to amend its operating permit. The company is authorized to remove rock for landscaping and masonry purposes at multiple sites under the permit.
The proposed amendment would add two additional rock removal sites in Cascade County. Site 19 is located on private land approximately 18 miles northwest of Great Falls. Site 20 is located on private land and a small section of state land approximately 11 miles west of Great Falls.
The proposed amendment would allow a disturbance of 20 acres at any one time at Site 19 and 25 acres at any one time at Site 20. ES Stone would use quarrying and surface rock picking methods that have been previously permitted.
