Broad Agenda for Economic Affairs Meeting

Broad agenda for Economic Affairs meeting Aug. 31-Sept. 1

HELENA - The status of broadband services in Montana and concerns about air ambulance uses and charges are among the  broad-ranging agenda items when the Economic Affairs Interim Committee of the Legislature meets starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 31 and 8:00 a.m. Sept. 1 in Room 137 of the State Capitol.

The interim legislative committee that addresses industries of all types, as well as economic development and employment issues, will also hear presentations on the Board of Livestock budgets, a rule on dry needling proposed by physical therapists and opposed by acupuncturists, and alcohol industry concerns. The Department of Commerce and the Governor's Office of Economic Development will provide updates on their agencies.

For those who want to provide public comments, the comments in person before the committee will be broadcast and archived, as will the entire meeting. The public is welcome to attend or may listen to the broadcast either over TVMT stations, available at http://leg.mt.gov/css/Video-and-Audio/tvmt.asp, or online at http://leg.mt.gov/css/default.asp. Written comments may be included on the committee website, http://leg.mt.gov/eaic, and will be available as part of the public record. The committee notes that personal information included in written or oral testimony is part of the record.

Senate committee members are Sens. Tom Facey (D-Missoula), Rick Ripley (R-Wolf Creek), Gordon Vance (R-Belgrade), and Lea Whitford (D-Cut Bank). House committee members are Reps. Mike Lang (R-Malta), Ryan Lynch (D-Butte), Nate McConnell (D-Missoula), and Vince Ricci (R-Laurel).
